It is helpful and, tho...I enjoyed your blog a lot. It is helpful and, though I do not actually think I will be writing a novel, I will get the book as it seems to have some very good tips and advice.
One thing that does bother me though is when SN said;
"I think basically we’re trying to encourage writers not to assume that the publishing industry is at fault, because there’s nothing you can do about it, whereas there is something you can do about your own writing, which is a healthier attitude to take," right after he admitted that he does not necessarily have a lot of faith in the publishing companies.
IS it healthier to fix your writing to fit a publishing world that may be at fault and you just can do nothing about it?
Of course nothing can be done if the whole publishing world has gotten themselves into a "do it the same way that it has aways been done and never deviate" state of mind but that also means that as a whole our societies will remain eventually on the stagnating end of the stream.
This is sad, but it makes it sadder to me that SN calls this the healthier approach, to simply change ones writing to please an unhealthy part of the world. Healthier for the blood pressure I am sure but the advice almost seems to be saying that, yes, the publishing companies are not all that balanced and are getting a bit on the ill side but you will be a lot healthier if you do not fight it and just do it their way.
So, between "Us" and "them" how are our youth and a growing society going to keep growing? starrduskhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12349781098084759478noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8111243616545425761.post-74693228583081370252010-09-09T21:37:06.265-05:002010-09-09T21:37:06.265-05:00You're welcome! =)
